Read today that there are about 50 war vets running against incumbents for seats in the house this year. All but one are Democrats and most are veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan, and the first Gulf War. They call themselves the Band of Brothers even though some are women.

With few exceptions they are receiving no support from the Democratic machine that seems to prefer to support their groomed creations who will spout nothing but the party line. Most of them have already lost to the people they are running against in past elections. So the veterans are having trouble raising money, and are resented by the party because they will have to hold primaries to pick a candidate. We can’t be giving people a choice now can we?

I hope that most of them win. If they don’t they should be prepared for the backlash.

Dr. Robert Johnson a heart surgeon from northern New York who is also a Gulf War Veteran from the Army Reserve is an active member of the community in Sackets Harbor.
He is also an outspoken critic of the Iraq war who ran for Congress as a Democratic challenger to Republican John McHugh in 2004 and plans to challenge him again.
He was taking a trip to Florida last month was told at the Syracuse airport that he could not fly because he was on the Federal No-Fly list as a terror suspect.

He is like a growing number of war critics who have found themselves on the no fly list.

Homeland Security is just Political speak for Protect the administration from all foes foreign and domestic, and suck up to the money.
